Digital and social media are an ever-growing part of our world, and to send physicians into practice without digital literacy—or worse yet, to advise them to avoid public engagement over social channels—would be irresponsible. Created and taught with experienced faculty member Dr. Matt Zuckerman, our curriculum equips learners with the conceptual understanding and technical skills necessary to utilize digital media in their practice. The ultimate outcome? To satisfy an unfulfilled need in medical education and bring effective pedagogy in digital literacy to other health programs across the country. Combining Dr. Zuckerman’s experience in medical education with my expertise in professional identity and digital media, we have completed teaching two semesters of what started as a back-of-the-napkin idea.

FEATURED CAPSTONE PROJECTS
These are featured pieces created by students while taking Digital MD. Some students have had prior design experience, while others were new to the idea of creating digital educational pieces. Nonetheless, all students reported greater comfort and capability with digital media at the conclusion of the course.
